This year's Christmas Cantata, titled "The Mystery and the Majesty" was presented on Sunday, December 19th at 8am by the Senior Choir.

Funeral Committee update

Maxine Kahler has done a wonderful job as our chairperson for the funeral committee. Her enthusiasm and devotion has helped the luncheons run smoothly. Maxine has now expressed the desire to step down as chair, so we will be working under a new system. Cheryl Sturges and Marguerite Fowler will be organizing the food order and calling for food donations. Wanda Watts and Jim Tracey will be overseeing the kitchen the day the luncheon is served. Members of Zion have always been generous with their time and donations. Many who have helped in the past have expressed the desire to continue working; we hope this transition will be a smooth one.

Fresh new look to the kitchen

Thank you to the Women of Zion for funding the kitchen project. John Bender and Arlyn Groen laid the new tile, Dan Druckrey polished the new tile, Dennis and Cheryl Sturges took the doors and drawers off to stain and varnish them, Cindy King painted the walls, John and Lois Bender, Mike Knitter, and Cheryl Sturges put up new wallpaper, Mike and Cindy King, John and Lois Bender, Jim and Marilee Sellers, Wanda Watts and Dennis and Cheryl Sturges cleaned out the cupboards and reorganized them, put back the doors and drawers. If you haven’t had a chance to look at it, be sure to go and peek in the door. Some things have been moved to a new location. If you think about where you would use the item, look close to that place—for Example a coffee cup can now be found by the coffee pot; the dish rags and towels are now near the sink; serving utensils are now at the serving window, etc.

Habitat for Humanity house Dedication Oct 30th

You are invited to the Home Dedication and Blessing of the Boone County Habitat for Humanity house.

When: Saturday, October 30, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Where: 217 East 2nd Street

The home will be blessed and the homeowners will be presented with the keys to their new home. The construction season has been a huge success due to the dedication of countless volunteers and the generosity of many donors!

Congrats to Julane Nease !

Congrats to Julane Nease on receiving a Zion Scholarship sunday.  She has started her on line class work from Wartburg Seminary, Dubuque.

Kick off sunday !!

Today starts are regular two service sundays. 

Today also starts our regular meets at the church for groups such as Adult Forum,  Sunday School,  etc.

Pictures below are from our "coffee and coffee cake" up in the Hall between services.    We were allowed to dress up for Kick Off sunday !! 

Happy Birthday Zion !!!

After service on sunday, we had a little party, cake and coffee to celebrate 119 years ( or was it 117)  i lost count.

Scholarship awarded to students

The Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce that 6 members of our congregation will receive scholarhips. This award is recognition for their contributions to church and community while it is also a resource to help them realize their educational potential. We are blessed that we are able to encourage them as they continue in the Way of the Lord.

Women's Luncheon and Bridal Fashion Show June 19 2010

EKKLESIA July 4 2010 10am

We attended the 1st ever (in boone county) EKKLESIA (Greek word for Church) with six other churches at the Belvidere Community Center.  I'd say about 600 people were there, maybe more since i couldnt see the entire area.

This Past Easter Sunday - Flowers

We had bad luck with pictures,  this is the only one that shows the flowers used on Easter Sunday.  Pictures taken the morning of.. didnt turn out.. not sure why.   oh well,  enjoy what we got .....

Missed church due to the time change ????

Well, thats a likely excuse for ya !!    You missed an added addition to the service this past sunday.
During the service you were asked to come forward and write down a reoccurring sin in your life as well as writing down one sin done to you by someone else, then nail it on the cross.
